Little League Objectives
Evenly Talented TeamsIt is the objective of the Rockford Little League to, as much as possible, structure all League teams so that they are as equal in ability as possible. ParticipationIt is recommended that each player should take their turn in sitting out during each game subject to how many innings are actually played and how many players are at the game. DisciplineAs leaders in the Little League program, we have the responsibility to offer a tremendous example of "training to act in accordance with the rules." As managers and coaches, we are in key positions to offer instruction and to be perfect in our examples for the instruction and implementation of proper conduct and actions. Proper reaction to the rules, regulations, and instructions must be emphasized... through practice, examples, training and control. ResponsibilityThe heart of the Little League program is obviously the responsibility of caring for a group of youngsters. We must convey that each of these youngsters is answerable or accountable to their managers, as well as their teammates. They have the responsibility to attend all practices and games. If they cannot attend a practice or game, they have the responsibility to advise the manager well in advance of the absence. SportsmanshipSportsmanship is best defined as the ingredient that makes up the character, the practice and the skill of a sportsman. Each reaction to every situation should ideally be a portrait of a perfect gentleman or lady... and demand that each of our Little Leaguers react the same, then our objective of good sportsmanship will be achieved. |
