Purpose of the League
The purpose of the Little League is to provide a wholesome, beneficial activity for youngsters under the leadership of adults who are agreeable to the giving of their time and service toward a common goal. Little League is a non-profit organization which is organized "to promote, develop, supervise, and voluntarily assist in all lawful ways, the interest of those who will participate in Little League Baseball." Little League is the largest youth sports program in the world. It is truly a program of service to youth, adapted to the mental and physical capacities of youngsters in a wide range of age groups. Combining all sanctioned Little League participation, more than 2,500,000 youngsters participate each year. The objective of the local league shall be to implant firmly in the youth of the community the ideals of good sportsmanship, honesty, loyalty, stronger and happier children and will grow to be decent, healthy and trustworthy adults. To achieve the objective, the local league will provide a supervised program of competitive baseball games under the Rules and Policies of Little League Baseball, Inc. Directors, Officers and Members shall bear in mind that stressing exceptional athletic skills is secondary and that the type of leadership extended is of prime importance. In summation, the ultimate goal of Little League Baseball is to provide a wholesome, happy and beneficial experience to youngsters who play the game. |
